The ACUSD/ACOE Community Newsletter is a weekly communication from the Amador County Unified School District and Amador County Office of Education. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep our families, staff, and community members informed about our district!

District News & Announcements

Become a School Bus Driver!

The ACUSD Transportation Department is holding Bus Driver Training classes in September!

The class will be held at the ACUSD Transportation Department, 545 Independence Dr., Sutter Creek, on the following dates:

September 21, 22, 24, 25, 28, and 29: 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 23: 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Attendance at every class date is mandatory.

Interested applicants may call Transportation at 209-257-5180 to register.

Accelerated Reader - Family Information Night

Accelerated Reader (AR) motivates students to read more and read more widely through goal setting, personalized recommendations, and engaging quizzes. As students increase their reading volume, they build reading stamina, word recognition, and language comprehension skills.

Families are invited to come and learn about AR and how to support their students in reaching their reading goals.

Date: Thursday, September 3, 2026

Time: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Location: District Office Conference Room - 217 Rex Ave. Jackson, CA

Preschool Enrollment Still Open!

Amador State Preschool still has openings for the 2026-2027 school year!

Students must be 3 or 4 years old by December 1.

We currently have openings at three sites around the county:

Ione: Ione Elementary (8:15 - 11:15 am)

Plymouth: Plymouth Elementary (8:15 - 11:15 am)

Jackson: Argonaut High School (8:15 - 11:15 am)

News From the Community

Farm Tour & Dinner

You are invited to join Farms of Amador & Amador Farmer's Market for the Annual Farm Tour & Dinner! Proceeds to benefit School to Farm Experiences and School Garden Programs.

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026

Time: Tours at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm; Dinner check-in starts at 4 pm.

Purchase tickets at the Farms of Amador website.

School Board Updates

The next School Board meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 16, at the Amador County Administration Center located at 810 Court St. Jackson, CA 95642.

ACOE Open Session will begin at 5:30 pm.

ACUSD Open Session will begin at 7:00 pm.

American Legion Post 108 Donates Flags to Schools

Thank you to the American Legion Post 108 for their generous donations of flags to each of our school sites! We have partnered with them to properly retire our old school flags and ensure we have a fresh, new flag for each school site going forward.

The Hive Receives Grant from Amador Community Foundation

We are pleased to share that we have received a $3,500 grant from the Amador Community Foundation through the Jackson Rancheria Employee Community Grant Fund to support the important work of The Hive (Community Support Center) and our school-site Wellness Centers!

Cooking Demonstration at California State Fair

Director of Food and Nutrition Michael Pingree was invited to present a cooking demonstration at the California State Fair on July 18, showcasing fresh, locally grown ingredients. His menu featured homemade pesto pasta with fresh basil and three varieties of squash, along with a colorful salad made with yellow and black cherry tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers. He was joined by students Claire Kay and Dylan Avila.

Even more impressive, all of the produce used in the demonstration was grown at the Amador County School Farm, highlighting the value of fresh, locally sourced ingredients!
